This is where I'm going to talk about the books or book-series I'm curently reading.
It's advisable to only read the entry about the first book of a series to not spoil the tension.
I like to read much and fast, so it's worth taking a look from time to time.

the magician's guild - trudi canavan
Trudi Canavans "The Black Magician Trilogy" is a real masterpiece.
When starting to read one of the (till now) 3 released books you won't stop untill you're through, so don't plan any important activities during
that time. The story is exciting, stirring and funny and you will simply love the characters right from the beginning.
"The Magician's Guild" is the story of Sonea, a girl living in Imardin, the capital of Kyralia. She and her family are very poor and, like
everybody else who doesn't belong to the houses of Kyralia, hates the Magician's Guild. The Magicians form the wealthy and powerfull part of the
society and are used by the king to 'clean' the city of the poor people without permanent home once a year.
When Sonea uses magic by accident to hurt one of the Magicians during this process she has to hide with the help of the Thieves for she fears to be
killed by the Guild.
But the Thieves never help without a reward and the Guild is making every effort to find Sonea before she will lose the controll over her power...

With help from her mentor Lord Rothen, Sonea succeeds in controlling her power. Soon it's discovered, that she is way more powerfull than some of
the fully trained Guild Magicians. This frightens Sonea at the beginning, but by-and-by she learns to trust herself and the Guild. In Rothen and
Dannyl she finds friends and falls in love with Dorrien, Rothens son.
But the Novices of her class, under charge of Regin, a very mean boy, ambush Sonea, play bad jokes on her and even attack her by magic.
Also, Sonea is hiding a dark secret, she once saw the High Lord Akkarin performing forbiddne Black Magic. When he finds out, that Sonea, his friend
Administrator Lorlen and Lord Rothen know his secret, he insists on becoming Soneas Mentor to be able to browbeat Rothen and Lorlen.
Sonea is now to live in Akkarins House, to take additional lessons and is no longer allowed to have any contact to Lorlen and Rothen.
But by-and-by she becomes more powerfull and adept; she even challenges Regin to a formal duel infront of the whole Guild...

Akkarin taught Sonea to use Black Magic. After getting to know his past and motives, she want's to help him and safe Kyralia from the menace of the
Ichani (wild Black Magicians from Sachaka), planing to conquery Kyralia. Also, her initial hate on Akkarin has vanished completely. Is it only
friendship or is there more between Akkarin and Sonea?
But their cover is blown and the both of them get bannished from Kyralia - into Sachaka. There, they have not only to fight for their lives but also
to find a way of protecting the Guild from the Ichani.
But every Ichani has many Slaves from whom to obtain power, Akkarin has only Sonea and the Guild still objects of learning Black Magic...
